Condition

Overall the condition of the figures is very good with some minor dirt to the surface and minor wear to the surface consistent with age. There are a few minor chips to both, particularly to the edge of the bases. St Peter: The end of the key is restored and loose. There may be a smal area of restoration to the drapery below the waist at the front. St Paul: One side of the sword handle is restored. There is a small chip to the nose.

Catalogue Note

Antonio Bonazza is considered one of the greatest Venetian sculptor's of the 18th century.  He was brought up as a sculptor working in his father's workshopalong with his brothers Tommaso and Francesco.  He is first mentioned working with his family in 1730 in the Rosary chapel in the church of Saint Paul and Saint John.  Much of Antonio's work was conceived for churches and chapels.
