Condition

The canvas has been re-lined. There are a few scattered areas of possible retouching, obscured by a varnish, visible under ultraviolet light, notably to the darker areas of the composition. Apart from scattered fine craquelure and some flattening of surface due to the re-lining, this work is in good condition, with rich tones and strong chiaroscuro. Held in a decorative, gilt, moulded plaster and wood frame with a name plate.
