Condition

Unexamined out of frame and under glass, the sheet is sound, and apart from a few minor discoloured specks to the upper quarter, this work is in very good condition, with fresh colours and fine detail, and ready to hang. Held in a decorative, carved wood frame with a gold-painted slip, under glass.

Catalogue Note

George Clairin and René Lalique were introduced to each other by Sarah Bernhardt (lot 243). They forged an enduring friendship and met up regularly in the 1890s at the Cours de la Reine cafe, to what they affectionately called their 'table du Mercredi'.
