Description
- Leopold Carl Müller
- halt in the desert
- signed and dated L. C. Muller. 1879. lower right
- oil on canvas
- 62.5 by 100cm., 24½ by 39¼in.
Condition
The canvas has been relined. There appears to be a masking varnish over the darker colours, including the dark robes of the foreground figures, and the brown camel sitting on the right, which very possibly is obscuring some retouchings. The signature has been strengthened. There is some slight craquelure to the paint surface. The colours are brighter and more varied in reality. Held in a simple, gold and brown-painted moulded plaster and wood frame.
