Condition

i. Not examined out of its frame, the sheet appears sound. The work is in good original condition and ready to hang. Held in a decorative, moulded plaster and wood frame, under glass. ii. Not examined out of its frame, the sheet appears sound. There are some handling marks, notably visible to the upper right edge, a small broken crease to the right side, and a narrow stain (approx 2.5cm. in length) to the left side. This work is in otherwise good condition. Mounted and held in a simple, narrow wood frame, under glass. iii. Not examined out of its frame, the sheet appears sound. The work appears in good overall condition and ready to hang. Mounted and held in a gold-painted, narrow, moulded plaster and wood frame, under glass.

Catalogue Note

The drawing of the donkey was executed during Kuhnert's first expedition to Kilimanjaro in 1891.

Musk-ox is the original drawing for the illustration in volume II of Haacke-Kuhnert, Das Thierleben der Erde, Berlin, 1901, p. 389.
