Condition
This condition report has been provided by Jane McAusland FIIC, Conservator and Restorer of Art on Paper, Nether Hall Barn, Old Newton, Nr Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14.
Support
This pastel drawing is on a sheet of wove paper, which is wrapped over the edges of a panel lined with canvas. The sheet has been prepared with a substance to give it a rough surface to hold the pastel. Artist pinholes show at all corners and all but the lower right group have been filled in; there are slight tears across these and wrinkling at the top. The sheet is slightly 'time' stained.
Medium
The pastel is in good order though there is a vertical line on the right side approximately 2cms in from the edge, which has some surface loss and general unevenness.
The illustration is a little brighter than the original.
Note: This work was viewed outside studio conditions.
