Condition
Apart from bowing very slightly at the upper right and left and lower left corner, the panel is in good condition. There are scattered minor flecks of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably to the sky, but the work is overall in very good condition, with bright colours and strong impasto. Held in a decorative, gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame.

Catalogue Note
Executed in 1851, the present work depicts the pavilion of the Tir Fédéral, erected to exhibit the prizes from this Swiss national marksmanship contest (fig. 1). Held every five years, in 1851 the Tir Fédéral took place in Geneva between the 5th and 16th of July.
