Condition
The canvas has been relined. There are vertical lines of retouching which are most visible under ultraviolet light in the foreground in the carpet but also extend occasionally up through the the body of the figure and into the background. There are retouchings to the the upper body of the figure, in the stomach and the shadows. The colours are richer and not as dark in the background in reality.
Held in a decorative, gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame.
