The catalogue illustrations are representative for the actual paintings. Both canvasses are relined and stretcher marks are slightly visible. The painting with the white horse has two small repaired tears in the lower centre, and in the lower left corner. In this painting, discoloured retouchings are visible in the horse in the centre, in the foliage on the lower left, in the background and in the tree upper centre. Inspection under UV-light furthermore reveals retouchings in the black dog, in the lower ground, and along the left edge. In the painting with the stream, some tiny paint losses are visible along the lower and left edges. A repaired and retouched damage is visible in the lower centre left. Discoloured retouchings can be observed in the foliage on the left, in the left horse, in the water, in the central figure. Inspection under ultra violet light furthermore reveals additional scattered retouchings, e.g., in the trees upper right, in the middle horse, and in the dog centre left.
Both paint surfaces are covered with a dirty layer of varnish.
Offered in decorative carved gilt wood frames in good condition. (MW)
