- charged with the sitter's coat-of-arms upper right and dated: 1654
- oil on canvas
- 83 by 103.5 cm.
Condition
The actual painting is darker in tone and the colours are less bright than the catalogue illustration suggests.
The canvas is relined and a canvas patch is attached to the reverse. The paint surface is somewhat flattened. The painting is in good condition, no damages are visible to the front. Discoloured retochings are visible in the orange-red dress and two minor spots in her face: above the eye and in the chin. The paint layer is under a dense craquelure pattern and under a dirty and discoloured varnish layer.
Inspection under UV-light confirms abovementioned retouchings and reveals additional, smaller spots in the brown drapery to the left and in the white lace sleeves. The varnish layer is unevenly cleaned.
Offered in a fine, ebony wood frame, in good condition. (JD)
