Description
- Jacob van Strij
- A river landscape with fishermen loading their ware onto a boat, two fishermen in the front
- oil on canvas, unframed
- 126 by 145.5 cm.
Condition
The actual painting is a little softer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas is relined (wax) and consists of two pieces, with one vertical seam running through the centre. Many small discoloured retouchings can be seen throughout, a few larger ones in the sky. The paint layer is a bit dry and has a dirty varnish layer. Inspection under UV light reveals the retouchings as mentioned above, as well as minor strengthening in the trees. Offered unframed.
