A South Netherlandish polychrome painted walnut figure of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, probably Malines late Gothic / early Renaissance, mid 16th century

carved in almost full round, the Saint trampeling Emperor Maxentius under her right foot 

Traces of old polychromy with later refreshments, traces of old woodworm, especially the back of the base and losses due to worming, right lower arm of Catherine lacking, small losses to the raised parts of the carving.
