Condition

In good general condition with the inevitable dents, marks and scratches due to use and age, each piece with very minor veneer losses and some hairline cracks to the rounded veneered parts, slight wear to the upholstry and some fringes slightly loose, some armrests slightly loose, sofa with small split to fabric. Measurements: bookcase 203cm. high, 204cm. wide, 50cm. deep; bureau 77cm. high, 164cm. wide, 82cm. deep; table 74cm. high, 110cm. diameter; sofa 205cm. long; standard lamp (with cap) 172cm. high.

Catalogue Note

The chairs offered with this suite belonged to the interior of the German steam ship 'Bremen', launched on August 16th 1928. It was the fastest steamer of that time and sailed transatlantic to New York. Paul Hoffmann was a member of the Design Department for the shipbuilding company Norddeutscher Lloyd which was responsible for constructing the 'Bremen'. The architect is especially known for his design of the Sunroof Restaurant of the 'Bremen' ship. This high class ship with the latest technical innovations and luxury was used by many celebrities among others Marlene Dietrich, Fred Astaire and Max Schmeling.
