Description

  • 18cm. high.
engraved gilt dial callibrated for the hours I-XII and 13-24, the rim with touch knobs, single hour hand and silvered alarm disc, finely engraved surround with a reclining putto in a landscaped inscribed MEMENTO MORI, the reverse dial with Roman numerals for striking train engraved with the figure of Atlas, the side panels with the deities Sol and Venus, double fusee iron posted movement with verge escapement and later front pendulum, countwheel striking and alarm on a surmounted bell with a foliate shaped silvered cover, acorn finials above corner columns with moulded bases raised on a shaped plinth

Condition

dial slightly dirty and a bit rubbed, hour hand replaced, alarm disc possibly replaced, movement able to fucntion but needs to be cleaned, balance replaced by a front pendulum which is a very common thing, second and third wheel in the going train replaced, rest of the wheels look origial, restored alarm, side-panels now fixed with clips, a few dents, acorn finials, bell cover, base of case all probably later, no winder
