Description

  • pax: 11.5 cm. high, 8cm. wide; Madonna: 20cm. high.
mounted in later carved giltwood frame, together with a carved ivory figure of the Madonna and Child,  probably French, late Gothic, 15th century

Condition

The ivory pax in overall good condition with some yellowing and general surface dirt. There is minor wear to the raised parts of the carving. The Madonna with considerable abrasion and minor surface dirt, visible above all in the vertical fissures. Her right hand with restoration, small losses to her crown. There is one larger vertical fissure running throughout he figure.
