- escabeaux: 55cm. high, 44cm. wide, 27cm. deep; refectory bench: 62cm. high, 192cm. wide, 31cm. deep; the chair: 89cm. high.
together with a similar refectory bench, and a walnut and leather covered chair, probably Antwerp, Renaissance, 17th century
Provenance
Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis, Mechelen.
Condition
The escabeaux: both in overall good condition with the inevitable minor dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. Small losses to the extremeties. Traces of old woodworm, especially to the feet. One seat probably associated.
Refectory bench: in overall good condition with the inevitable minor dents, marks and scratches due to age and use. Minor traces of old woodworming. Three legs with small fissures due to dryness. Some parts probably associated, restoration to the seating.
Chair: in reasonably good condition, traces of old woodworm and some related losses. The stretchers reinforced with a metal construction. Back legs restored. Later seat construction, top rail of back rest replaced. The leather in aged and worn condition.
