Description

  • Antoine Pesne
  • portrait of a young lady, half length, wearing a wide-brimmed hat with a ribbon and a flower
  • pastel on paper
  • 61.9 by 49.2 cm.

Condition

All actual pastels are slightly more subdued in tone than the catalogue illustrations suggest. All pastels are in excellent condition. In all portraits there's a bit of surface dirt. The portrait by a follower of Pesne has a small scratch to the upper left. In the portrait of Flora the background is a little bit abraded. The head-and-shoulders has a few creases along the edges, and a few (water?) stains. All pastels are offered in different decorative gilt wood frames with a glass plate, with a few losses. (MW)
