  • approximately: 358cm long, 246cm. wide.
depicting a couple in an architectural fountain landscape, possibly derived from the Villa d'Este in Tivoli, with floral border

Condition

Tapestry with old professional repairs and reweaving in areas. See for example areas of the sky background, which has clear areas of different colour. Green foliage stable condition with good colour. Border cut and joined far right, as visible in the photograph, and some reweaving to brown ground. Tapestry probably originally wider composition. Areas of light silks, with some wear, commensurate with age, for example see white foam of water. Features of faces reworked for definition. With metal-thread detailing to the clothing and robes, now tarnished and visible as darker area.
