Catalogue Note
a fine copy of this collection of poetry by Savage and others including John Dyer, Matthew Concanen, Aaron Hill, Richard Steele, and Edward Young. Savage's preface is an account of his claim to be the illegitimate son of the 4th Earl Rivers and Anne, then Countess of Macclesfield; it includes lively attacks on the woman he claimed was his mother (the truth of this claim is still disputed), which resulted in the book being withdrawn and re-issued without the preface.
