Catalogue Note

The first edition of Goldsmith's work includes a number of misprints, mostly in the headlines and catchwords. However, three errors were corrected in the press and copies were issued with corrected and uncorrected sheets and the variants do not carry precedence. This copy includes the following: no catchword on p. 213 (vol. I), catchword "him" on p. 39 (vol. II) and '159' printed as '165' on p. 159 (vol. II).
