The Blackmer and Atabey copies of this work have four plates in addtion to the engraved title and folding plan. The present copy has three plates.

Wincklemann described Baltimore as "one of those worn-out beings, a hipped Englishman, who had lost all moral and physical taste". His account of Constantinople, however, is full of charm, and written with some humility.
