Description
- Three Rabbits Eating Plenty of Buns
152 by 153mm., fine ink and watercolour drawing heightened with gouache, signed lower right corner (within key label) "H.B.P.", mounted, minor browning not affecting image, some soiling to blank border, slight crease, evidence of previous mounting on reverse
Condition
There is a slight crease running from the head to the foot of the leaf slightly affecting the image at certain angles. There is some browning to the margins that does not affect the image. There is some evidence of a previous mounting on the reverse with the remnants of mounting tape. Two corners are creased but, again, these do not affect the image. The image is less red than that printed in the published catalogue with the colours bright and vivid.

Catalogue Note
an entirely unknown and extremely fine beatrix potter watercolour probably dating from around 1893-95.
This fine drawing shows an inventive use of lettering on the jars, bag and label on the set of keys. The message reads "A Merry Christmas and Plenty of Buns H.B.P." The word "Publishers" appears in pencil outline in the upper right corner.
