Catalogue Note
The Land of Heart's Desire was first produced on March 29 in London at the Avenue Theatre, to a rowdy and hostile reception. Two weeks later Yeats would first meet Olivia Shakespeare at a Yellow Book dinner. This is the fourth Yeats book printed in America (cf. Wade 5,7, and 9), and the first outside of New York or Boston.
