Catalogue Note
from the descendants of the poet's sister. According to family history, this teapot was given by Robert Browning to Elizabeth Barrett Browning when they were married in September 1846. She used it at Casa Guidi in Florence, but eventually gave it to her sister Henrietta, who had also been disinherited, having married her cousin William Surtees Cook against her father's wishes.
