Catalogue Note

the first printing of gulliver's travels, published on 28 October 1726. It was succeeded by two further editions by Motte in the following two months (Teerink AA and B), but it was the edition of May 1727 that Motte designated the "Second Edition". This is thus the first of three distinct editions which are by convention, and in deference to the publisher, known collectively as the first edition.
