Catalogue Note

Opposite the presentation inscription is an inserted thin leaf with a pressed dried flower with a note (probably in Laura Carr's hand) "Geranium Robertianum or 'Herb Robert'. Gathered by Mr. Wordsworth on the walk on the road between Ambleside and Windermere and given me Tuesday, October 20, 1840".

a superb presentation copy linking wordsworth with a fellow walker and his own famous walks in the lakes, when he composed aloud so many of his celebrated poems.
