Edmund Law Lushington was fellow and tutor at Trinity College, Cambridge, one of the Cambridge Apostles and a close friend of Tennyson's, whose youngest sister Cecilia he married in 1842. Both the Apostles and Cecilia herself are celebrated in the epilogue to In Memoriam. Lushington translated Oenone and Crossing the Bar into Greek and also contributed to Hallam Lord Tennyson's memoir of his father.
