Catalogue Note

This charming watercolour, showing a mouse with spindle and distaff is presumably from a series which also included a mouse knitting by the fire. This other image, now in The Charles Collection in Santa Barbara, has been widely exhibited and recently reproduced as a Christmas card by The Beatrix Potter Society. The present image is entirely unknown.
