Condition
The medium is in good condition. There is no obvious sign of the pastel having been rubbed. There is evidence of occasional spidery mould in small areas of the surface. However this can only be seen on very close inspection. Overall the work has been well preserved.

Catalogue Note
The sitter was an Ambassador at the Court of the Nizam of Hyderabad, India. His father was a Major-General in the East India Company and his brother was Secretary to the Marquis of Wellesley when Governor-General of India (see lot 108).
