the three cotton panels batiked in shades of brown with stylised floral motifs and flowering magnolia branches, the central panel depicting a young woman in exotic dress feeding phaesants, mounted in mahogany frames with carved details, the back lined in Nieuwenhuis fabric in shades of green with a woven stylised floral pattern

Condition
The left panel with a small tear (ca. 3 cm long) in the lower section, a few minor damages and wear along the edges, a few minor stains but overall good. The wood general traces of age, use and wear with some cracks and minor damages, chips and repairs but overall good and original condition

The work of artisan Roelf Gerbrands (1891 - 1954) clearly shows the influence of his tutor Nieuwenhuis, particularly in the stylised floral patterns Gerbrands used throughout his career (see also lot 305)
