'Ce n'est pas à dire, cependant, que Poliakoff ne soit pas abstrait, ou que sa peinture se contente d'avoir un corps, si riche soit-il. Abstrait, Poliakoff l'est totalement; mais il ne se contente pas, non plus, d'être non-figuratif; il nous propose des formes, mais de véritables formes, des métaphores plastiques nouvelles qui nous troublent et nous émeuvent comme seuls peuvent le faire tous les signes qui font allusion à ce profond monde poétique enseveli en nous, tel une seconde nature'.
