Catalogue Note

Warhol's first show, in 1952, was of drawings based on Truman Capote stories. 'This wasn't because he admired Capote's literary style,' wrote Jesse Kornbluth, 'but because he had a huge crush on him.  He'd written Capote hundreds of letters...he dreamed of meeting him.' (Pre-Pop Warhol, New York, 1988)
