Catalogue Note
In collaboration with Corice Canton Arman, this work is recorded in the Armand P. Arman Revocable Trust database under the archive number .8025.89.005.
Arman returned to working with paint - if not to painting exactly - in the mid-1980s, with a series of works comprised of accumulations of paint and the very tubes from which they were squeezed. Chief's Blanket is an exceptionally dense composition from this series, large in scale and overpowering in its hypnotic, repetitive rythmns.
