Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the background is a deeper and richer mustard colour in the original. The catalogue illustration fails to convey the three-dimensionality of the figure's outfit. Condition: This work is in good condition. There are a few scattered areas of craquelure towards the top left corner, and side edge, in the upper right corner towards the top edge and side edge and at intervals along the lower edge. There are scattered fly-spots to the right of her neck, to the right of her right arm and towards the centre right edge and scattered throughout her outfit. There is intermittent rubbing and a few minute losses in the lower halves of both legs, and a horizontal rub mark to the left of her right hand. Examined under ultraviolet light there is evidence of retouching at the corner tips of the lower legs and scattered areas that flouresce but are believed to be the result of the inconsistent layer of varnish.
