Catalogue Note

Prince's photographs oscillate provocatively between the utterly familiar and the eerily strange. And it is only by virtue of their "normalcy," to use the artist's own term, that the images can disarm, or even shock their viewers...The uncanny emerges from the disjunction between the everydayness of the subject matter and the hyperreal effects of its (re)presentation.
