Catalogue Note
By stealing pictures contrived to represent the "real world" (but which sell a concept of what we should want the real world to be) and presenting identical versions of them, Prince puts into play a dizzying strategy that challenges the distinction between truth and fiction... In effect Prince gives the mass-produced, anonymously created pictures a new life, assigning them an aura they had no hopes of achieving otherwise.
