Condition

This work is in good condition overall and benefited from a recent topical cleaning by Amann + Estabrook Conservation. There is evidence of wear particularly at the edges and visible craquelure with some isolated paint loss at the pull margins. There is a 1 in. hairline crack with a corresponding area of pinpoint paint loss located 3 ½ in. from the right edge and 4 ¾ in. from the bottom edge. There is a small area of paint loss located ¼ in. from the right edge and ¾ in. from the bottom edge. There is a brown accretion located 2 ¼ in. from the bottom edge and 9 ¾ in. from the right edge. There is a ½ vertical accretion or paint drip located in the upper-right corner. There is an area that fluoresces under UV located 5 ¾ in. from the top and 15 ¾ in. from the left edge in the area of the lower, outer corner of the left eye. This is presumably the result of the topical cleaning solution, as there is no evidence of inpainting under UV light inspection. Unframed.
