Condition

Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is softer in the original where the background tends more to a silver grey, the shirt tending more to ivory, and there is less ochre to the face. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is a faint vertical rub mark running approx 5cm in from the centre of the left edge and two further smaller rub marks: one along the lower left corner and another below the figure's chin. There is a minute spot of media accretion approximately 40cm to the left of the figure's upper lip. There is a very small protrusion towards the bottom edge at the level of the artist's signature. All of the above are only visible upon close inspection. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.
