Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is softer in the original, with the sand tending more towards ivory and the sky towards true sky blue. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is some very light wear to the bottom two corners of the composition which is only visible upon close inspection. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.

Catalogue Note

'There is always suffering behind a humorous face. Humour is the most important thing in art. There is not just humour in content, there is also humour in forms of expression, so the total significance of art is in comforting the heart.'
