Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is much brighter and more vibrant, with the dark blue tending more towards royal blue in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There are light surface scratches in places throughout, notably to the top of the seat and the base. There is a hairline crack to the top of the left arm of the chair, one in the mouth of the lower right-hand snake, one to the underside of the neck of the green snake and one with associated paint loss, to the left of the front edge of the chair seat, visible in the catalogue illustration. There is a small web of fine hairline cracks to the back of the chair where the top two snakes meet. There is an impact crack with associated loss to the nose of the bottom right-hand snake, visible in the illustration. There are further small spots of loss in places throughout, notably to the extreme edges of the base. There are white rub marks in places along the back of the necks of the green and blue snakes.
