Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is slightly brighter and more vibrant, with the red of the left hand figure's head tending more towards a bright tangerine orange in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is some slight canvas draw in the upper left and right corners. The upper right extreme corner tip is very slightly worn and there is some very light intermittent canvas wear to the extreme vertical edges resulting in a few tiny spots of associated paint loss in a few isolated places along the left edge. There are two parallel stretcher bar marks running across the centre of the composition and a further faint stretcher mark towards the top of the left edge. There are a number of faint media splashes visible upon close inspection to the lower third of the composition. There is a small media accretion towards the centre of the upper right hand quadrant. Upon very close inspection there is a tiny fine and stable crack to the yellow pigment in the centre of the composition, one to the white pigment stroke to the left side of the upper centre and another to the blue impasto stroke on the right side of the upper extreme edge. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
