Condition
Colour:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the blues to the background tend more to a soft grey-green, the black of the grapes more to rich burgundy-brown and the yellow to the lower part more to acid yellow-green in the original. The catalogue illustration fails to fully convey the three dimensionality of the grapes and the rich varied surface texture apparent throughout the original.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. A few fine and superficial dust fibres have collected in the crevices of the grapes and in the recesses of the raised impasto on the surface. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.

Catalogue Note
"What interests me in still life is to work with it as an organic material, to feel it as pure material... to create a kind of dance inside the picture"
