Condition
Colours:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly richer and deeper, with the cloth tending more to varied hues of cream in the original. The catalogue illustration fails to fully convey the varied surface textures of the different materials and the three dimensionality apparent in the original.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. There are patches of light surface discolouration and pale time-staining in places throughout the cloth. There is a faint horizontal rub mark to the upper centre of the composition (25 cm approx) and further scattered isolated media accretions in places. Upon very close inspection there are some extremely minor drying cracks to the oil pigment in the lower left quadrant. Under ultraviolet light there is no evidence of retouching.
