Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is brighter and more vibrant, with the paper tone tending more towards cream, the dark blue in the upper quadrant to electric blue, the reds throughout to London Bus red and the lemon in the upper left quadrant more to sunshine yellow in the original. The catalogue illustration does not fully convey the rich texture of the impasto work. Condition: This work is in very good condition. The sheet is hinged to the mount at all four corners and at the centre of the top and bottom edges; it is very slightly undulated. There is a faint flattened crease to the upper centre of the top right quadrant. On close inspection, a number of extremely fine cracks are visible to the thicker impastoed paint. There is a tiny pale fox mark to the centre of the left edge and a minute fibre adhering to the right side of the lower extreme edge beneath the signature. At the upper centre of the rgiht edge there is a tiny short crease and a faint horizontal mark, both visible only upon close examination. There is an extremely light short horizontal crease to the right of the signature above the lower edge and a tiny media loss approximately 15 cm. beneath the centre left of the upper extreme edge. No restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
