Condition
Colour:
The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly richer, with stronger contrast. The blue to the background tends more towards deep sky blue in the original. The catalogue illustration fails to convey the pencil details on the aeroplanes.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. There are scattered minute pale spots of foxing throughout the composition. Upon close inspection, three pinprick-sized media specks are visible to the upper part of the lower left quadrant, and two further specks to the right of the bottom centre aeroplane. There is a very pale line of discolouration (approx 5 cm) to the right side of the lower extreme edge, another (approx 4 cm) to the left corner of the upper extreme edge, and two extremely faint small spots to the right side of the upper extreme edge and to the left side of the upper extreme edge. Some evidence of extremely light wear is visible on close examination to places on the right and left extreme overturn edges.
