- A Tabriz silk carpet
- approximately 22ft. 9in. by 15ft. 9in. (6.93 by 4.80m.)
with inscription pendants reading "the carpet of Master Parnian, the weaving of J. L. Marandi"
Condition
Pile ranges from closely sheared 1/10in. to low to knot heads and spot foundation. Largest area of exposed spot foundation approximately 1in. by 1in. in right border. Most wear is now repiled, all in right side of field, along a vertical axis. Pile slightly higher in repiled areas. Ends with original flatwoven finishes, sides with some overcasting, some fraying and some of original silk selvages. Supple handle, sound fabric, unusual and attractive celadon border and medallion.
