Catalogue Note

The Sarouk Fereghan rug offered here is of unusually high quality and bears an outstandingly crisp design and brilliant color palette. The effortlessly flowing ornaments, while organic in nature, are true to traditional Sarouk Fereghan designs with their slightly angular drawing. The flowering leafy branches and stems are graciously punctuated with delicate cloudband that further emphasize the curvilinear rhythm of the composition. The overall balance of the field design is achieved with the horizontal alignment of the colorful florets and palmettes and the vertical placement of the ovoid shapes formed with leafy stems that is further stabilized with two diagonal axes crossing in the center of the field. The dark narrow border emphasizes the importance of the light field, making the lot offered here even more exceptional in appearance and an outstanding example of Persian weaving.
