- A Bakshaish rug
- approximately 5ft. 9in. by 4ft. 9in. (1.75 by 1.45m.)
Condition
Pile ranges from good approximately 1/6 inch in borders with most of field and medallion low to knotheads, dark browns oxidized to knotheads and some foldwear with warp strings and spot foundation showing. Three small (1/2 x 1/2 inch) holes in upper left side, possibly due to old moth damage. Kashmir repaired hole and repaired slits in lower right corner. 9 inch repaired vertical foldwear slit at lower center of rug.
Sides with partial original two cord selvages wrapped in madder and dark brown wool with some areas.
Upper end missing outer guard stripes with some losses into red guard border. Lower end with uneven original kilim end, 10 inch area with kilim frayed and missing.
Supple handle , sound fabric and condition.
