- A Ladik prayer rug
- approximately 5ft. 3in. by 3ft. 8in. (1.60 by 1.12m.)
Condition
Pile is generally low to knotheads throughout. Oxidized browns with some exposed warps and wefts in areas. Scattered foldwear. Rug has been reduced in length with the cut running through the bottom of prayer arch. One approximately 30 inch by 4 inch reweave under prayer arch running from right to left and stopping before left border. An approximately 3 inch by 2 inch reweave in lower left corner. Upper end guard border and part of border and a small section of right border are rewoven. Further smaller scattered smaller reweaves. A 3 inch by 2 inch restitched area in upper end of right border. Similar restitching in left border. Sides with reselvaging, overcasting, and some original selvaging. Lower end secured with blanket stitch and missing a few rows of knots. Cloth sleeve sewn on reverse at upper end. Supple handle, vibrant colors, respectable condition for age.
