- A Kazak rug
- approximately 6ft. 6in. by 4ft. 7in. (1.98 by 1.40m.)
Condition
Pile generally good with areas near original 1/6 inch with scattered areas of wear and foldwear low to knotheads; dark browns oxidized down to knotheads and spot foundation; some foldwear with faded repiling. Some dark brown repiled and repiling in need of trimming. Repiled moth damage (slightly faded) upper left corner. 2 inch vertical slit in lower right border.
Sides with some original two cord blue wool selvages and later reselvaging in areas.
Upper end with remnants of dark blue kilim, now approximately 1/8 inch with some areas missing.
Lower end missing outer guard stripe with small losses into end barber pole stripe, now partially secured with binding stitch.
Supple handle, lustrous wool, dusty so will enhance with cleaning; good color and unusual asymmetric and very eccentric/individual design elements.
